The benefits of yoga are numerous and varied. Yoga doesn’t prevent potentially stressful events occurring but it can increase your confidence and emotional resilience helping you to feel better able to deal with them. It is not a coincidence that regular yoga practitioners appear happier, calmer and more at ease with life than others.
You are clearing the mental clutter that can interfere with your life and prevent you from thinking clearly, cultivating a spiritual will that can make us feel happier, less anxious. Yoga will play a role in stress reduction, a major factor contributing to a host of health problems, both physical and mental.
Over time your flexibility, range of movement and strength will improve, you may notice other benefits such as improved and easier breathing and an improved immune system. Gradually you will feel more balanced – both mentally and physically. In fact, yoga is all about balance, the asanas (postures) ensure that all parts of the muscular and skeletal system are equally challenged.

You will build up strength and stamina as you gradually increase your ability to perform weight bearing postures helping to build and maintain bone strength and density. Your physical practice in class will be balanced by savasana (relaxation) at the end of the session, the deep relaxation pose that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and re-energised.
